These days we have been talking about a new section that we were launching in Androidsis in which we were going to tell the full Android story. In that case, we would present you The True Story of Android that we would go through year after year. We started in 2003, when Android Inc. was born.
And now we jump to 2005, because it was one of the most important stages for the company. Between 2003 and 2004 operating system development I continue with the same creators, but 2005 was the year of the turnaround. The year Google took action.
Precisely the purchase of Android Inc by Google it surprised us all. In fact, no one understood the reason for it when the company was quite small, and the meaning for which they needed it or the usefulness they would give it in the future was not explained. However, Google paid the figure of $ 50 million for it.
When the press started asking questions and the competition was disoriented, Google simply added that it was a good idea, that it was an innovative project with a future and that its engineers were fantastic. They also hinted at a future use, without making very clear what. To this day we know it well, but I think that at that time, not even Google knew how far Android would take it. This was a year of surprises for the company that became part of the search engine corporation, and a year in which the foundations of what is now the Android we know would begin to move. And like any other initiative of this type that is beginning, the illusions were many, but the certainties, rather few.
