Samsung's round smartwatch will be called Galaxy Gear A

Samsung Orbis Smartwatch

The era of wearables has just begun and there are already several smartwatches available on the market. Samsung was one of the first manufacturers to advance to the market by releasing its Samsung Galaxy Gear, its first smartwatch. The thing did not work because the market was not prepared so, later, different versions of this wearable came onto the market.

Now and after a few years, Samsung wants to re-release a device from the Galaxy Gear range. This device will be called Samsung Galaxy Gear A and it will be a smartwatch with a circular appearance and will leave aside Google's wearable operating system, Android Wear, and if it will do so with its own operating system for these cases, the already well-known Tizen.

Samsung Galaxy Gear A

It all started when the first rumors came out that the Korean company was working on a smartwatch under the code name Orbis, which we already talked about in its day on the blog. Now that rumor is gaining strength again and is complemented by the latest leak about the future Samsung smartwatch.

This new information that comes from a well-known forum about the devices of the Korean brand, anticipates that the Samsung Galaxy Gear A have a dual-core Exynos processor and at a clock speed of 1.2 GHz, accompanied by a Mali-400 GPU. Along with this SoC will be incorporated a RAM memory of 768 MB, 4 GB of internal storage and a battery with a capacity of 250 mAh. Its design will be similar to that of the Moto G, although it remains to be seen what type of materials will be used in its construction. The screen will have the SuperAMOLED touch panel under a resolution of 360 x 360 pixels.

As for other specifications not less important about the future wearable of the Koreans we find, Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct, GPS, accelerometer, gyroscope, barometer and pulse sensors. As we have commented at the beginning of the article, Samsung has decided that the operating system that this Galaxy Gear A runs, is Tizen instead of Android Wear. This movement shows that the company wants its operating system to be ideal for small devices such as smart watches, bracelets or other wearable devices that you can think of.

We do not know how this move will go, but it is not surprising that if the experiment does not work, Samsung will one day release a version of the Gear A under Android Wear. At the moment we can tell you little else about this smartwatch, so we will be attentive to any movement of the Koreans, especially the event of the next Galaxy Note 5, where the Gear A could make use of presence.
