A few days ago, Google decided remove all the applications available in the Play Store related to the coronavirus, dubbed COVID-19. The search giant was thus struggling to try to put walls to the disinformation that circulates on the internet, and which many users trust blindly.
But it seems that this has not been Google's only step to fight misinformation. The last step is found in the search results that currently offer us the word coronavirus or COVID-19: 0. The Play Store has stopped showing results related to both terms.
So far, so good. The problem is found in the way some users of write unfamiliar terms And precisely what the search giant knows a lot about, hence when we don't know how to write a word from another language well, when we type it in Google, the results we are looking for appear.
And I say this, why if we do a search with the word COVID19Without separating the hyphen, applications related to the coronavirus are shown, applications of all kinds, from those that send notices related to the spread of the virus around the world to applications from the disease control centers of several countries. We can also find the odd game, news applications such as CNN, Yoga, RSS readers ... practically everything.
If we search for the terms coronavirus and COVID-19 (as it is actually spelled) in the rest of the sections of the Google store, we find results from books, audiobooks and even music.
The search engine does fight misinformation
If we do a Google search for coronavirus or COVID-19, (even the term COVID19), a sign with a red background and the message SOS Alert is displayed first. Right below, the latest news from the media that communicate the "supposed" latest news related to this virus are shown and right after, we can find the Information Help section, where we find results from the Spanish Ministry of Health and the WHO.
