The new Office all-in-one is now available on the Play Store

A couple of months ago, we echoed the announcement of the public beta that Microsoft had launched for both iOS and Android, beta in which it grouped all the Office applications in a single application called Office, to dry, without any surname. The final version of this application is now available on the Play Store.

Office is going the opposite way to Google. Initially, Google Docs allowed us from a single application to edit any type of text document, presentation spreadsheet, but as the years went by, it separated the applications. In particular, I see Microsoft's idea much more appropriate than Google's.

The new Office application from Micreosoft allows us to access Microsoft's cloud storage service, OneDrive and directly edit the files that we have stored there without having to download any other application. In addition, it has a fantastic notes app that syncs with Windows and a document scanner, ideal for scanning and sharing any document on the go. But in addition, it also offers us a QR code reader, if we habitually use it. If not, it never hurts to have it.

All of this is fantastic but there is a great but, a great but relative. The world of Android tablets is practically dead, despite sporadic bets from both Samsung and Huawei. This application is not officially compatible with tablets managed by Android or with Chromebooks managed by ChromeOS.

If we want to continue using Word, Excel and PowerPoint on our tablet or Chromebook we will have to continue making use of the independent applications, applications that are still available in the Google Play Store. While it is true that we can install Office on these devices, screen rotation is locked, so working vertically on a tablet is not a good idea, not to say that it is very uncomfortable.
