Galaxy S9 experiences battery problems after updating to Android Pie

Android 9.0 Pie

It seems that it has become a tradition that each new version of Android that reaches the devices in its final version has to be withdrawn due to the problems it presents in operation.

In the previous article, my colleague Eder has informed you about the problems that the Xiaomi Mi A2 is showing after updating to Android Pie. But it is not the only one, since the Galaxy S9 has also begun to give problems, in this case of battery.

Last week, the Korean company Samsung released the final version of Android Pie for the Galaxy S9 without prior notice, but only in a few countries where none are Spanish-speaking. Samsung may have wanted to carry out a staggered launch to be able to solve the different problems that may show how the case we are talking about is like, and so the number of affected users is less than if it is carried out worldwide.

According to several Sammobile readers, the percentage of the battery in their terminals, once they have updated to Android Pie, drops quickly without performing a task that requires a lot of power. Most users claim that the battery percentage drops from 10 to 5% in a matter of seconds.

Although initially you might think that the sensor that measures the remaining battery was poorly calibrated, many users say that the battery life of the Galaxy S9 has been reduced by between 10 and 20% compared to Android 8.

At the moment Samsung has not commented on the matter. The company has two options: release a patch to correct this problem without withdrawing the update, or release the final version worldwide with the patch that fixes this problem.

It seems that after several days of use, the battery problem is the only one that is affecting the Galaxy S9 after updating to Android Pie. Hopefully that's the only one, as that would mean that the update for everyone should not take long to arrive.
