The solution that Apple has offered us for many years when it comes to sharing files with any other iPhone, iPad, iPod touch or Mac is called AirDrop, a function that Samsung recently incorporated, but with quite a few improvements compared to those offered by Apple. But it will not be the only one, since Google is also working on an alternative.
The Google alternative for Android that allows us to transfer files quickly and easily will be called Nearby Sharing, a function that will also be available outside of Android, which allow us to share content with other desktopsEither PC, Mac, Linux or a laptop with Chrome OS.
Unlike Android Beam, the function that allowed us to transfer files between Android devices, Nearby Sharing will use the Wi-Fi connection, much faster when sending files, especially if they are large. How will it work? Through Chrome, the Google browser that today has a market share that is close to 70%.
By relying on the Chrome browser, this will allow Google to reach a greater number of devicesexcept iPhone and iPad, due to Apple restrictions. It would have been good for Apple to give in in this regard so that users of any mobile device can share files regardless of their manufacturer.
Chorme even in the soup
This function is fine, things as they are, but you have to force users who do not use Chrome to install it, it is not so much anymore. Chrome is not characterized by being a lightweight browser that consumes few resources, quite the opposite. The more tabs you have open, the number of resources the computer consumes increases considerably.
