The Android O beta is coming soon, according to Google

Android O

Next week the new event starts Google I/O 2017, a moment that the company could take advantage of to unveil the beta of its next mobile operating system Android O.

According to an announcement recently published by Google in the Official Site of the Android Beta Program, the beta version of Android O “is coming soon” in the hands of testers.

In case anyone does not remember, the previous version for Android O developers was released in mid-March, but this version was only aimed at developers who wanted to test some of the new functions of the operating system, while the Beta version it can be used by a wider range of users, not necessarily developers.

For now there is no exact release date for the Android O beta, but it is possible that this build will debut next week on Google I / O, especially since the company promised to reveal more details about this version during its event.

Android O Beta

As we already said in a previous post, some of the main novelties of Android O will be the following:

  • The possibility of snooze and group notifications: Users can postpone notifications for 15 minutes, 30 minutes or 1 hour, or create “notification channels” where notifications from certain apps will be grouped under a single category.
  • Floating videos (picture-in-picture mode): This is an interesting function that will allow us to play a video in an active window above the other applications, with the possibility of using other apps simultaneously.
  • Adaptive icons: Android O icons can be fully animated within the Launcher, as well as inside the Settings panel or on the screens with shortcuts.
  • Hi-Fi audio codecs via Bluetooth: Android O will have support for Hi-Fi audio codecs via Bluetooth connections, including Sony's LDAC.
