Just 3 weeks agoAndroid Auto launched globally so that all users can have an app on their smartphones or tablets to help them in their daily driving to their home or workplace. This app allows you to access certain very interesting features that come in handy when we are in a vehicle and emphasizes an interface that will allow us to focus more on the road.
Android Auto is finally getting the support "Ok Google" voice command. Auto was launched two weeks ago with basic functionalities, but you could guess that it was more like a beta product. One of the great absences was the voice command "OK Google", which is present in many Android devices, as well as in Android Wear, or Google Home. Being an app that is designed so that you don't get distracted from the road, the hands-free option is one of the best additions.
Still the official announcement has to be seen by Google, but the truth is that it is already beginning to be used by some users who have even been able to publish an image to attest to the fact that you can already have the "OK Google" on your Android Auto.
Support for "OK Google" is currently displayed in the Google app, just under the option "while driving", you see the new description that says "works on Google Maps and Android Auto." The checkbox isn't new, but the mention of Android Auto is.
In order to have support for this voice command, you must install version 2.0.6427, which is the one that seems to activate the functionality, although it is not the only requirement, since it seems that we are again facing this activation from the server side, so some of you may have the option, while others will have to wait a bit.
Una of the best incorporations that Android Auto has received in these two years and that comes just short of being available globally.
