Spotify Lite now unofficially available for Wear OS

Android Wear 2.0 came with the supposed promise to allow run applications independently of the terminal to which it is connected, but that was never really the case, although to a large extent, since the Internet connection has to be obtained in some way and the only one available is through the smartphone to which it is connected.

A weeks ago, Spotify joined the trend of launching applications in Lite version, that is to say, light versions that take up very little space and that lose some functions in adaptation. Today we are talking about the lite version of Spotify for Wear OS, an application that has not been launched by Spotify, but by an XDA Forums user named money too.

This version is specially designed to be used on devices managed by Wear OS. The application is practically the same that we can find in the Lite version, but at scale, since the interface has been reduced compared to the original size, and where the buttons do not occupy the entire screen. The XDA Forums user, money too, claims that he has been able to develop a script that allows these changes to be made in any APK, which sounds great at first.

Although it is true that this adaptation makes us lose some information along the way, especially in terms of titles, it is the only option available today since if you were waiting for Spotify to launch it, you will have to keep waiting, because the swedish company does not plan to release a version for Wear OS or watchOS. This is better than nothing.

If you have a device with Wear OS, you can now download this application through the link that I leave at the end of this article. To be able to make use of it, our smartphone must run Android 4.1. According to this developer, the unofficial Lite version of Spotify works both on Wear OS devices and on devices managed by the previous Android Wear version.
