Sony's 5G smartphone prototype at MWC 2019

This year, at MWC 2019, several manufacturers showed their skills in the new 5G technology effort, such as TCL with its 5G foldable phone prototypes. Most of the manufacturers announced that the 5G compatible devices will be released in the second quarter of 2019.

Most recently, Sony has joined the list of expected 5G-compatible devices with its prototype device. The new terminal has been presented at MWC 2019 at the Sony and Qualcomm stands.

It seems that a decade of new technologies has just begun with the announcement of folding smartphones from Samsung and Huawei: the Galaxy fold and the Mate X, respectively. On the other hand, 5G technology support is gaining momentum, and the initial batch of compatible devices appeared at Mobile World Congress. Sony

Recently a Sony's 5G device prototype at the Sony and Qualcomm booths. This is not a commercial product, but a test one. It was even known that it could differ a bit from the final product, as it is now under development.

Prototype models run on the Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset 855. The company has likely paired the SoC with the X50 5G modem. Screen measurements were not available, but showed a 21: 9 aspect ratio. Sony has labeled the new device "AG-1" internally, as discovered. It uses a 5mm waveform for 5G transmission along with sub 6 spectrum support.

It has been speculated that Sony could come up with a commercial 5G smartphone at IFA 2019, the tech event that will take place in September. It could be another version of the Sony Xperia 1 recently released along with the Xperia 10 and 10 Plus or a new device with a totally different nickname. In short, it will be another great terminal, without a doubt.
