With all the device announcements that are emerging from Computex, another one appears, but from the hand of Sony that introduces today a new android phone, the Xperia M.

It is a mobile that is in the mid-range range and that will have a dual-SIM configuration, called Xperia M dual. Global launch expected by the beginning of the third quarter of this same year 2013.

The Xperia M will appear in black, white, purple, and yellow only for the single SIM version. Xperia M specifications include a 4-inch screen with FWVGA resolution at 854 x 480, 1Ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon dual-core processor and 1GB RAM.

In the storage there are 4GB expandable via microSD card, five megapixels in the camera with the Sony RS Exmor sensor and Android 4.1. Apart from the usual aspects that include Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi and NFC. The size of the terminal is 124 x 62 x 9.3mm, 115 grams and a 1750mAh battery.

Another Android device from Sony for this year, in which, as usual, the camera would be the most remarkable even if it is 5 megapixels, and as always it must be taken into account when talking about terminals of the Japanese company. The other specifications are more or less the normal ones for a mid-range phone, although the screen with a resolution of 854 x 480 could be less remarkable.

Sony now names this terminal M, playing with us with the variety of names that it gives to the various terminals that it has such as Z, UL, ZR, we are going to have a good mess. Anyway, as always, choosing a Sony Android device means being able to have in our hands a terminal with a special and different design to what seen in LG or Samsung.

El price is not known yet so if you have a little impatience in this regard, we will have to wait as always.

Sony has always stood out for getting very good performance mid-range, mid-low and low-end terminals, such as the Xpedia X10 mini / mini pro, Mini / Mini Pro, Neo V, Xpedia U, Xpedia type or go; but lousy in terms of updates.
This seems to be one of the many but with great expectations, as was the Neo V or the Xpedia U at the time, the latter a success in my country.

The updates issue seems to be improving it at least with the xperia Z. My previous mobile was a mid-range, the LG black, and well, you can not wait any longer, but I have still enjoyed it. There is also a time to get a high-end Android, and I chose Sony for the design and the camera.

I understand perfectly but being a good company is updating all your terminals and not just the high-end, premium or flagship ones. Samsung is better at this.
If I can't afford an Xperia Z (or its variants) and I want an Xperia U, I need to know that it will be up to date. I have seen Chinese computers (without customization, pure Android) with an 800Mhz processor and 512Mb of ram, running a JB better than many mid-range and high-end mobiles; even with 4.0.3 / 4 with ONLY 256Mb of RAM. I mean, upgrade by hardware, they can.

Yes and no longer talking about LG, which with black took a long time to update to Gingerbread we don't even know ... and the update to ICS arrived but with problems and a very high battery consumption. Almost all companies should put the batteries in the updates, although according to Google, they hope to end the fragmentation in Android soon.

Exactly, they will be upgradeable (at least the free ones) but when and how they remain, it's something else; if not tell the Transformer TF101 / 300, Asus updated it but it was a mess the new rom was unmanageable.
Google can do what it can but I don't think it will. You would have to make a kind of application that enables indirect updates (bypassing telcos and manufacturers) such as the famous "updates" of pirated copies of Windows, so that MS does not detect them.

An application like this is difficult with the mania that operators have in adding their applications, and let's not talk about blocked bootloaders ...
