Last month, Qualcomm introduced its next-generation flagship chipset for high-end smartphones: the Snapdragon 855. It is the first commercial mobile platform to offer support for 5G connectivity, although in its variant with the X50 5G modem; there is another that does not have this component and, therefore, is not capable of providing the 5G network.
Now, before the launch of the first smartphone with Snapdragon 855, a Geekbench reference list has appeared online claiming to be from the aforementioned Qualcomm processor. It seems that the score comes directly from the manufacturer's test unit. We expand you!
The listing reveals that the chipset scored 3,545 points in the single-core test and 11,150 points in the multi-core test. The device used to test the package had 6 GB of RAM and was running the Android 9 Pie operating system.
Snapdragon 855 on Geekbench
Last month, AnTuTu comparison between the SD855 chipset with other flagship chipsets from other manufacturers, the Kirin 980 and Exynos 9820, revealed that the Snapdragon 855 is leading: your test in the next Galaxy S10+ obtained a score of 343,051 points. Before that, a leak showed the SD855 SoC registering 362,292 points in AnTuTu, the second highest so far for an Android device; the first was from the same chipset in the Sony Xperia XZ4, which ended up being 395,712 points.
This octa-core processor features four power-saving cores clocked at 1.78 GHz, three performance cores clocked at 2.42 GHz, and a special “gold” core for increased performance, clocked at a maximum clock rate of 2.84 GHz. It is also combined with the Adreno 640 graphics processor, for greater perfomance. Relatedly, like the Apple A12 Bionic chipset and Huawei's Kirin 980 processor, The Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 is also manufactured using the 7nm process by TSMC.
