The world of images has taken over not only our lives but also our android. The popular app of the Facebook company, Instagram, seems to have a large security hole that would make our profiles unsafe and easy for third parties to hijack without us being able to do anything to fix it.
The terrible security hole was located by a security researcher, Mazin Ahmed who was stunned by what he had found on Instagram. Apparently Instagram continues to use the http protocol, a public protocol and easy to hack without a good encryption, which would put the security of Instagram into question.. To give you an idea, hacking such a protocol is so simple for a hacker that there are already applications such as those used to root smartphones. Faced with such a situation, Mazin Ahmed notified Facebook of this security hole, a notification that was responded to by Facebook itself, affirming Mazin Ahmed's data and informing him that they are working on the use of new, more secure protocols but that at the moment they use this protocol.
Instagram does not encrypt the HTTP protocol, which is a major security hole
Although Instagram is a great application and a powerful social network, using such an insecure protocol is a great handicap that could cause more than half of the users to leave, significantly harming Instagram. The most paradoxical thing about all this is that today Instagram has announced its Bolt app, an app similar to Snapchat that self-destructs the images sent once the recipient has viewed them. We have a very secure app as opposed to Instagram which would be the most insecure app.
As a possible solution to this problem, I think that the Instagram user has two options: either close their profile on Instagram, or create a personal use policy for their profile and let their contacts know so that in case your account is hacked, your contacts can know that it is not you and, of course, always have on hand the email in charge of suspending our account in case it falls into the wrong hands. And above all, be cautious.
