The MWC 2020 has not been the only big event that has been canceled by the coronavirus, although it did weeks before it became a problem that seemed far away at the time. The IFA, the largest technology fair held every year in Europe, specifically in Germany, is held at the beginning of September and we already have the first absences.
Samsung is one of the manufacturers that is always present at practically any fair, however, it has been one of the first to confirm that for this year they do not have them, because they do not plan to attend. The reasons are the reasons that all the companies that will also cancel their participation in the coming days will probably expose: the coronavirus.
The news of the announcement of attendance at IFA 2020, comes from different Korean media, IFA which is initially scheduled to celebration from September 4 to 9. Samsung has limited the travel of its employees outside of Korea to the maximum to reduce the possibility of them being infected by the coronavirus. Additionally, the risk of sending hundreds of executives to Berlin could far outweigh the potential reward of attending this event.
On August 5, without the date being finally confirmed, Samsung plans to officially announce the Note 20, Galaxy Fold 2, Galaxy Z Flip 5G ... as well as other products, a presentation that will be online through YouTube.
The next big event will be CES 2021, the largest consumer technology fair held every year in Las Vegas, a fair that depending on how the pandemic evolves, it is likely that it will not be celebrated either. It is to be expected that in the next few days, the rest of the manufacturers that also attend this event every year will announce that this year they will also get off the car.
