Not long ago, we started to see 12GB RAM modules in mobile phones, in 2018, as in the Lenovo Z5 Pro GT, the first with such capacity, and Samsung seems to intend not to waste time with its production.
The South Korean giant began mass-producing the 4 GB LPDDR12X DRAM modules designed for the most iconic smartphones with the most advanced hardware and technologies.
Samsung's 12GB RAM modules feature several improvements
The new modules are designed to be used in devices that support the most revolutionary technologies in the mobile sector, such as camera configurations with various sensors, 5G connectivity, artificial intelligence and more. The modules are built with a 10 nm (1y-nm) production process and will have a data transfer speed of up to 34.1 GB / s.
Another advantage of the new 4 GB LPDDR12X RAM modules that have just entered mass production is the lower energy consumption: they will be much more efficient. Samsung also reduced the thickness of its modules: the new ones are only 1.1 mm thick and this saves space to provide larger batteries and a better design for the flagship phones.
Thanks to the new modules, users will benefit from better multitasking performance and faster search response. Before these, Samsung also began to heavily produce eUFS 3.0 storage with capacities up to 512GB, which is another great innovation in the mobile sector and represents a further improvement in performance.
The 4 GB LPDDR12X RAM modules were designed with a combination of six 4 gigabit LPDDR16X chips in a single unit. In addition to starting mass production of these components, Samsung will increase the supply of these components along with 4GB LPDDR8X DRAM modules by 300% in the second half of 2019 because it already predicts strong demand for these chips.
