Software engineers at Samsung are opening the doors of the various Galaxy code, and they won't stop until everyone has their code released.
Just today Samsung released kernel files for some of its important devices and some not so important ones. The Verizon version of the Galaxy S4, the galaxy Tab 3 7.0, and the Galaxy Mega 5.8 Duos and the gsm version of the Galay Mega 6.3 have been chosen to have the source code of the kernel put in repository of "Open Source" of Samsung.
The kernel of the Galaxy S4 already appeared in the unlocked versions, as well as the LTE version of the slightly larger Galaxy Mega 6.3. Although these kernel versions are conditioned by the versions of the operators and regions, Samsung's goal is to open the code for the most important Galaxy devices.
Of the versions released today, the one for the Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 is probably the most important, since due to its ready availability around the world and the quality price that the Tab 3 7.0 will treasure, directing it for this very summer so that many people can have it in their hands.
The Galaxy Mega 5.8 Duos is a dual sim model created for remote markets and travelers, like the rest of that sub-family.
These maneuvers are important so that the community can unravel the software installed on mobile phones and can create their own ROMs, ideally all companies will release the code very soon at the same time that the drivers updated so that there would be no conflicts in the creation of these wonderful ROMs, since one of the handicaps with which they are found is the time it takes to have a certain ROM available when the last driver is missing updated camera or Wifi, preventing devs in the community from focusing on improving it.
It is difficult for this to happen, but according to the growth of Android and important companies such as Samsung, HTC, Sony and LG, it should reach an agreement between them for at least one year after its release, the drivers will be made available.
