Samsung "gives away" between 5 and 7 million users to Apple

Last week Brian White, an analyst at Drexel Hamilton, suggested that sales of Apple's iPhone 7 could increase by up to 8 million units more than expected thanks to the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 disaster.

Already in the middle of the Note 7 replacement program, it was speculated that Apple will be one of the main beneficiaries of this Samsung crisis. And now that production of the Galaxy Note 7 has been completely discontinued, popular KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo underscores the earlier predictions made by Brian White.

Samsung lives a bloodletting of users

Without a doubt, Ming-Chi Kuo is one of the most reputable analysts when it comes to Apple leaks. Over time, it has proven to have good contacts and very reliable sources, hence its high degree of success. Much of the predictions about the new smartphones on the block came from his reports, and he has also hit the mark in terms of financial and sales reports. Like White, Hubo also expects Apple sales, and specifically the iPhone 7, to benefit from the Note 7 disaster, although he has been somewhat more conservative in his predictions.

Of the approximately 12 million orders for the Samsung Galaxy Note 7, Ming-Chi Kuo estimates that about half, between 5 and 7 million, will make the jump to the iPhone 7 from Apple. Given the technical characteristics of the Note 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus itself with its double camera and its 5,5-inch phablet-style screen, this will be the preferred model for those who finally decide on the apple.

As for the other half of Note 7 buyers, Huawei could be one of the top destinations. But some are likely to opt for the new ones too Google Pixel and Pixel XL.

Of course, there will also be fans who remain loyal to Samsung and choose another terminal from the firm, however, Kuo points out, the vast majority will abandon, at least for the moment, the South Korean brand.
