Recently, Samsung announced that it will stop delaying the 'Galaxy J' series to adopt a new nomenclature letter, 'M', as we reported in this article. This arises as part of the renovation that the South Korean wants to implement in new devices with different approaches.
On this occasion, a supposed Samsung Galaxy M2 has appeared on Geekbench, and we say "assumed" because it was simply registered under the model code "SM-M205F". Next, we reveal the details.
The first benchmark result for Samsung's upcoming Galaxy M series has emerged in the Geekbench database. In this benchmark, the smartphone has been registered with an Exynos 7885 chipset, the same one that was used in the 2018 edition of some Galaxy A phones, including the recent Galaxy A7 (2018), a mobile that has already arrived in Spain and of which we have made a Complete analisis. In addition to being known with this processor, the mobile carries Android 8.1 Oreo and includes 3 GB of RAM, which will probably be combined with a 32 GB storage.
In question, this chipset is a more powerful SoC than we expected from the M series. The Galaxy J2 Core, for example, uses an Exynos 7570 chipset with a quad-core processor. Even the Galaxy J6+ had to make do with a Snapdragon 425 (also quad-core CPU).
The Exynos 7885 is a 14nm chip with two relatively fast Cortex-A73 cores and six A53 cores, plus a Mali-G71 GPU. Note that the Galaxy M2 is clearly aimed at the mid-range.
On the other hand, because everything indicates that it is a low-mid range, could host an HD + screen, a dual rear camera along with a front one, and other demure and somewhat modest specs and features.
