This edition of the IFA in Berlin is being very decaffeinated. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, it was decided to continue with this technology fair, but evidently the presence of the press was going to be minimal, so this year there are no particularly notable news. Although Samsung has surprised us by presenting the Samsung Galaxy Fit 2.
We are talking about the second generation of its family of activity wristbands that comes with a clear objective: to become an alternative to the Xiaomi Mi Band 5. But it is going to be really difficult.
Is this Samsung Galaxy Fit 2 worth it?
On an aesthetic level we can say little, since the design of this new wearable does not have any remarkable element. As expected it is waterproof, yes. On a technical level, we do find more interesting details, such as the 1,1-inch AMOLED screen with a resolution of 126 x 294 pixels that the Samsung Galaxy Fit 2 mounts.
On the other hand, under the hood we find all kinds of sensors capable of monitoring our physical activity: accelerometer, gyroscope, heart rate sensor. Of course, unfortunately it does not have GPS, one of the most differentiating elements with its direct rival, the Xiaomi Mi Band 5.
Thanks to this, we will be able to register five different types of activities, in addition to offering all kinds of metrics related to these sports. On the other hand, this smartband has Bluetooth 5.0 and WiFi. The best? Its 159 mAh battery, which guarantees excellent autonomy. More than anything, because this Samsung activity bracelet lasts up to 15 days on.
Now, there is little it will be able to do against the Xiaomi Mi Band 5. At the level of functionality, we do not find notable differences beyond access to Samsung Health. And the manufacturer wants to put this product on sale at a crazy price: the Samsung Galaxy Fit 2 will cost 99 euros. Yes, three times more than its rival, despite having the same characteristics ...
