Review of the Leagoo S8, a very complete terminal for just over 100 euros

One of the manufacturers of Asian origin that for some time now has been doing things very well, with some devices whose value for money is quite good is Leagoo, of which we have already spoken on previous occasions.

This manufacturer has recently launched a new mid-range terminal, with more than interesting features and that we must take into account if we plan to renew our smartphone. I'm talking about Leagoo S8, a terminal that we completely analyze in this article.

The Leagoo S8 offers us a terminal with aluminum finishes, with a very attractive appearance and far from the low and medium range where most terminals are made of plastic. The aluminum used it's a magnet for footprints, for which in most cases we will have the terminal full of fingerprints, which will force us to have to use the cover, included in the device, so as not to have to spend more time cleaning the fingerprints than using it.

Another problem that this device offers us is that it is also a magnet for attract dust, an aspect that should have been taken into account when designing it, since when it is not the fingerprints, it is the dust that will always be present in the terminal.

The Leagoo S8 offers us a 5,7-inch screen with an 18: 9 format and a screen ratio of 86%. The panel manufactured by Sharp offers us a excellent visibility in any environmental condition, even with a direct source of light such as the sun. The resolution of the screen is HD, 1440 × 720, more than enough to cover the needs of many users and which also allows the battery to last longer.

The Leagoo S8 is a terminal with which we can play games that require a certain power almost without problems, such as Modern Combat, Asphalt 8 AirBorne and others, and I say almost, because from time to time it seems that the terminal hangs in the process of loading the games, never when we are playing, something to be thankful for, but having some patience, it is not a very serious problem to take into account.

This terminal has not yet adopted the USB-C connection, so when loading it we will have to continue using the veteran micro USB. Regarding the headphone connection, the Leagoo S8 offers us a 3,5-millimeter jack connection, a jack that has begun to stop being used in many of the terminals that in recent months are reaching the market, and that later or more early they will have to adapt and eliminate it in future models.

The camera is usually one of the sections that reveal the most interest among users, as well as the performance it offers us. In this sense the Leagoo S8 get a notable, but we have to take into account the placebo effect of the two rear cameras, since the main one takes excellent photographs, while the second one, destined for portrait mode, continues to use a circular blur, which we can adjust, having to position the subject or object to always portray in the center of it. Also, the resolution is quite poor.

As I have said, the rear camera of the terminal offers us very good results, even in low light conditions, where some terminals of the same range, barely show us an image on the screen. The dual LED flash illuminates objects or people sufficiently in photographs without having to get too close to the smartphone. When taking night photographs, and in which the object is sufficiently illuminated, both the grain and the quality of the photograph is quite reasonable for the price range of this terminal.

Regarding the two front cameras, Leagoo, again falls into the same error and offers us two cameras, the main one being one quite remarkable quality to take selfies And also available with a front flash, ideal for taking pictures practically in the dark and a secondary one aimed at taking portraits, using the same method as the rear camera, blurring the edges of the photograph and leaving only the center to position ourselves for the selfie.

Again, Leagoo is another Asian brands that due to the screen ratio, have decided to place the fingerprint reader on the back of the terminal, reducing its size to a minimum, something that affects the functionality it offers us, since we have to try a large number of times until we manage to detect our fingerprint.

In this sense, Leagoo sins, like Bluboo with the S8, in the size of the sensor, which means that in most cases, let's finish by entering the PIN security or pattern to unlock it and be able to access it.
