The Chinese manufacturer's smartphone currently ranks as one of the most popular and best value for money smartphones in the world. Its characteristics and technical specifications, in turn, make it one of the best options that can be found at the power level thanks to the Mediatek Mediatek Helio G90T. However, its quad sensor system, which is driven by a 64 MP sensor, it has not scored well in camera tests.

With a score of 84 on the DxOMark camera, The Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro occupies a place in the lower half of the test platform ranking, just below other affordable models like the Motorola Moto One Zoom and the Samsung Galaxy A50.
Based on what is described in your camera review, exposure is good in outdoor conditions, but some clipping reflections and tonal shifts are visible in bright parts of the skies captured in different shots.
Its performance in still image mode gives it a photo score of 87. The figure is based on relatively good performance in autofocus tests and good subject isolation in bokeh (field blur) mode, as well as good target exposure when using the flash in low ambient light levels. However, the testers also found several areas for improvement on the smartphone. Despite the high-resolution sensor, images show a lack of fine detail, which is exacerbated when shooting in typical indoor conditions where you shouldn't have a problem.

The dynamic range is also limited, resulting in very noticeable clipping of highlights when shooting in difficult high-contrast situations. Also, hue changes can be seen near clipped areas, for example in blue skies. It is also worth noting that the Redmi Note 8 Pro does not come with a dedicated camera; as a result, zoom shots lack detail. In addition, the ultra-wide angle lens covers a good field of view, but, like the main camera, its images lack wide dynamic range and detail levels are also low in its shots, which leaves a lot to be desired. .
The Redmi Note 8 Pro also scored 78 in video tests. Video images generally show good exposure to the lens when shooting outdoors or under typical indoor conditions. In bright light, colors are vivid and generally pleasing, and electronic video stabilization is effective in counteracting camera shake when holding the device still while recording. However, as with still photos, Redmi Note 8 Pro video recording shows a number of problems. In changing light conditions, DxOMark evaluators observed white balance and exposure instability, as well as noticeable steps. As with still images, dynamic range is limited, with noticeable highlight cropping in bright, high-contrast scenes. Despite the 4K resolution, the detail levels are low, and at the same time, the noise is visible in all light conditions.
DxOMark concludes that the device's camera cannot compete with the current best models in its class and displays a variety of areas for improvement in photo and video modes. That said, it also adds that the Redmi Note 8 Pro is a budget mobile that costs only a fraction of the price of a current high-end smartphone. With this in mind, it's fair to say that the device does a decent job.
