Production of the Snapdragon 845 enters the testing phase with a 7nm process

Qualcomm Snapdragon

Although Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835 is still the most powerful chip at the moment that is being incorporated into the flagships of almost all mobile manufacturers, several reports are pointing out that the next model in Qualcomm's range of high-end processors is already under development. Based on these details, The SoC will be called Snapdragon 845 and it will be built based on a 7nm process,

Apparently, TSMC started the development of the 7nm process last April and is currently in the test production phase, at the same time that the Snapdragon 845 is also in full development and its launch is planned. by the beginning of 2018, just in time for debut with the Samsung Galaxy S9, just like the Snapdragon 835 did this year with the Galaxy S8.

Of course, Qualcomm will not be the only one to use the 7nm process for its chip, as other manufacturers such as Huawei, NVIDIA and MediaTek, among others, plan to turn to 7nm technology for their own processors.

According to the first details, processors manufactured with this new 7nm process will experience performance improvements of 25 to 35 percent compared to the current process 10nm which has been used during the manufacture of the Snapdragon 835.

In addition, it is believed that the chips will be able to experience this performance improvement without necessarily being larger, but quite the opposite, which could lead to the arrival of some even thinner smartphones.

The new report comes shortly after another leak last month, when it was initially learned that the development of the Snapdragon 845 had started and that it would be used for the first time in the Galaxy S9, so the most important novelty in this case is the use of the 7nm process.
