Ultimately, Qualcomm is the chipset manufacturer with the most mobile platforms to offer in the market, and for all segments, from low to high, when it comes to mobile processors for smartphones.
Lately it has focused more on covering the mid and high range of chipsets, with launching of new sets of the SD800, 700 and 600 series, but now it has returned to one that had been dusty, that is is the SD200. This has received a new member, and it is none other than himself Snapdragon 215, an SoC that will be present in terminals low-cost thanks to the modest features and technical specifications discussed below.
All about the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 215
The new System-on-Chip has been presented as the renewal of the Snapdragon 212. The Snapdragon 215 makes use of the same node size of the aforementioned processor, which is 28nm, but is now based on a 64-bit architecture, which offers it greater advantages when it comes to being compatible with better technologies.
The SD215 is a quad core Cortex-A53 chipset. These run to a 1.3 GHz maximum clock frequency, which is the same as the one reached by the SD212, but the Cortex-A7 cores of the latter are inferior. ARM claims the Cortex-A53s are 50% faster and more efficient, in comparison.
The Adreno 308 GPU will be in charge of moving the graphics on the new mobile platform. This is the same graphics processor found in the Snapdragon 425, a chipset with similar specifications. Qualcomm claims that there is a 28% performance increase over the Adreno 304 GPU that is in the Snapdragon 212.
On the other hand, the processor comes with a dual ISP; is the first in its series to do so. This gives it compatibility to use a camera sensor of up to 13 MP or two of 8 MP. Thanks to this, you can now use a telephoto or depth camera, but the former is unlikely to be seen as we are talking about the low segment. In addition, support for 1080p video recording has been added.

However, the 1080p FullHD + screen resolution is still not supported. The Snapdragon 212 only supports 720p HD + panels, but something that is very good is that it supports the 19: 9 aspect ratio. It is time for us to see panoramic screens in the terminals low-cost.
The mobile platform also has support for the Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) and Bluetooth 4.2 connectivity, as well as with NFC to accept payments through Android Pay. Other compatibilities include VoLTE technology and EVS (“Ultra HD Voice Calls”, in its broken acronym translated into Spanish).
The only bad thing to say about this chipset is that it has a fast charging technology lower than what we find in the Snapdragon 212. Supports 1.0-watt Quick Charge 10while the SD212 supports 2.0-watt Quick Charge 18 technology.
