El Google's Ara Project brings to the fore modular phones that we can configure and customize as we wish and according to our own needs. A project that has been taking more shape as the year has passed and that is going through phases until at some point it finally reaches the market for commercialization.
Now you have a competitor, Puzzlephone, a modular phone created by the Thai startup Circular Devices. The goal of Puzzlephone, like Project Ara, is to create a smartphone with individual parts that can be upgraded just the way you want without the need to buy a brand new phone. Conceived in three parts
Puzzlephone is created by three main parts: the brain, which has the main part of the hardware with the most important elements; the spine, which is the site for the screen, speakers, and microphones; and the heart, which contains the battery.
In terms of software, Puzzlephone will have a Android modified version and it will be able to offer support to other operating systems for mobile devices such as Firefox OS, Sailfish and Windows Phone in the future. The first Puzzlephone will be ready for launch in the second half of 2015 with a price that would be within the mid-range.
Modular phone for years
One of the objectives of this modular phone, like Project Ara, is that the user can have this smartphone for 10 years by updating it when you see it necessary and that allows you to forget about changing the phone every 1 or 2 years. One of its main virtues is that it has to do with the screen, since there are many users who at some point break or scratch it, which will allow it to be changed immediately from a modular phone.
Another feature of these phones is that it will allow stores offer hardware upgrade support so as not to delegate to the user the change of certain elements of these terminals.
