PowerAmp Music Player Releases Public Alpha with New Audio Engine and UI

PowerAmp

PowerAmp was one of the first apps that I bought in the Play Store when there were really no very interesting options and there was no Google Play. A local music player that had a fairly powerful audio equalizer and it contained all the features one was looking for five years ago in Android. Its interface was distinguished from those existing in those days and it was the best app in its category. Now the years have passed and new apps have appeared that offer great results, apart from those of Google's own and many others that have achieved that, apart from playing music locally, the online takes great strength. Be that as it may, PowerAmp has always been a great option for users and for this reason a new alpha has been launched with a new interface and audio engine.

PowerAmp, as of today, has an alpha version in 3.0 publicly available for anyone to download the APK from the developer forum. In this way, if you did not previously have the opportunity to access this app, you will be able to access its extensive support for different codecs, a high-class equalizer and a good list of functionalities that manage to take music playback to another level from an application such as is. The biggest change in the app is in the new audio processing engine and the new visualizations. As for the interface, it has been tweaked a bit, although it follows the same design lines as always, which completely leaves Material Design aside to continue offering something different from other apps.

A new PowerAmp

According to the developer himself, the biggest changes in this alpha version, which has been released publicly, are in the new audio processing engine and what are the new visualizations. Of course, this is not all and there is a list of improvements and adjustments that make this alpha a very important version for those who have continued to have this app installed for some time.

PowerAmp

  • New audio engine
  • PowerAmp now uses a 32-bit representation
  • PowerAmp's core DSP uses internal 64-bit which helps boost bass amplification
  • Reverb with enhanced StereoX settings and effects
  • Tempo control
  • mp3, aac, ogg vorbis, opus and other formats are now directly decoded to a 32-bit representation
  • Support for opus, tak, mka, dsf and dff formats
  • PowerAmp now fades in / out properly and optimizes volume changes to avoid clicks and “pops” during transitions such as stop, search, etc.
  • PowerAmp now applies a smooth transition between music tracks
  • PowerAmp uses its own resampler
  • Very high quality resampler SoX form options
  • Optimized OpenSL output
  • Support for third party plugins (DSP / Decoder / Output)
  • Visualizations
  • Support for presets v1 and v2. Support for v2 presets on OpenGL ES 3.0 devices
  • The configurations can be loaded from the SD card and downloaded as APKs from the Play Store
  • Support for third-party configurations in APK
  • Spectrum visualizations

PowerAmp

This alpha version has its limitations as is the ARM hardware, so, if you have a phone with an Intel chip, you must wait for a new alpha version. The skins are also not available at the moment in this new version, because the user interface is not yet sufficiently developed at the moment. Of course, users who have purchased PowerAmp, can install this alpha on version 2 and retain premium purchases.

You can download this alpha version from PowerAmp forums. A interesting proposal for these first days of 2016 and to which interesting news will be integrated for the coming months and weeks when we see new alpha versions of one of the most important music players that we have been able to access since the beginning of Android.

If you are looking for another type of player, you may be interested in this one.

Excellent news, I already had a lot that you didn't see anything new ... It was one of the first applications I bought, it's worth it.
