OxygenOS Open Beta 7 arrives on the OnePlus 6 with new and interesting functions

OxygenOS Open Beta 7 now available for the OnePlus 6

OnePlus has started rolling out the new update to OxygenOS Open Beta 7 for OnePlus 6 smartphones. The update, in addition to coming with some improvements and new features, also introduces a new service from the company called OnePlus Roaming.

According to the official changelog, the OnePlus Roaming service will allow you to access mobile data on your smartphone without having to buy a local SIM card when traveling abroad. The function is similar to the one introduced by Google as Project Fi.

To enable the service, just go to Configuration, then Wi-Fi and Internet and then select the option 'OnePlus Roaming'. You will then be presented with the options to purchase a data plan. Once you have purchased the data package, simply select the package from the ordered list and enable it once it reaches its overseas destination.

Note that OnePlus roaming service only supports data service, and that you will not be able to make voice calls using the service. However, you can still rely on messaging services like WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, and Telegram, among others, to make voice calls over the Internet.

Currently, OnePlus Roaming service is only available to OnePlus 6 users, but we hope that the Chinese company will also extend this feature to other devices, including the recently launched OnePlus 6T smartphone.

Along with the new roaming service, OxygenOS Open Beta 7 update comes with several new features. The company has added a new video enhancement feature for a better viewing experience while playing; improvements in the user interface for an emergency rescue; general bug fixes and performance improvements; among others.

In summary, these are the new features of this version of OxygenOS reviewed by the company:

  • System:
    • Added Video Enhancer feature.
    • Added OnePlus Roaming.
  • Communication:
    • Added vibration when hanging up.
