Samsung, Huawei and LG are the three companies expected to launch foldable smartphones early next year. After this wait, the other company that will also launch a folding smartphone at the beginning of next year is Oppo.

OPPO Product Manager Chuck Wang has confirmed that the manufacturer will use the platform of the Mobile World Congress (MWC) technology fair in February 2019 to announce its first foldable smartphone.

In detail, Wang only confirmed the arrival of Oppo's foldable phone without sharing information about its specifications and release date. Therefore, there is no confirmation as to whether this next terminal from the Chinese firm will be equipped with a foldable design, like Samsung's, or a foldable design like Huawei's foldable phone. It could also look a lot like the Rouyu.

Confirmed: Oppo to Unveil Foldable Smartphone at MWC19

A report that had appeared a few months ago suggested that Samsung could allow Oppo and Xiaomi to use its Infinity Flex display. Therefore, there is a possibility that OPPO's folding phone will support the South Korean's folding design. In addition to this, the executive has revealed that the company will launch its first 5G smartphone in the first six months of 2019. It is speculated that the next mobile in the 'Find' series will support 5G connectivity. Europe will be the first market to receive it.

The other vital information that Wang has shared is that the company is working on a new front camera design with an integrated display, just like Huawei does. The innovative display is expected to be ready by 2020.

Other recent reports have revealed that other Chinese smartphone makers, such as Xiaomi and Lenovo are also working on smartphones with folding screens. Therefore, it seems that 2019 will be the year of folding screens and the 5G network. By the second half of the year, more phones may come with support for 5G connectivity. This is something that remains to be seen.
