Opera says to optimize music streaming by using Rocket Optimizer, a data optimization service that Opera acquired when it bought Skyfire in 2013. It offers support for streaming MP3 and MP4 and you can convert them to the more efficient AAC + codec.
If you are hoping that one day Opera Max will offer support to Spotify, this will happen at some point as Opera promises since the announcement of this great novelty. Sergey Losseve, Opera's product manager, said today in the announcement that Pandora, Slacker Radio, Gaana, Saavn and YouTube Music are the first five apps that have passed his quality test, but that soon will offer support to the rest of the apps music streaming, which should include the famous Spotify.
The Opera Max app will display this saved data from the data usage screen. The total data used is indicated and those who have been saved just like that screenshot of the app shows. Just below we have the data consumption of each of the music services such as Slacker Radio, Pandora or YouTube Music, which each has saved about 210, 73 and 25 MB respectively.
Obvious what the use of the application can mean, although the only handicap is that some of those services are not available still in our country. In any case, it will not take long for us to optimize the use of data with Spotify, one of the most used services and which will be interested in Opera being able to offer its services from an app like Opera Max.
