Currently on the market we have at our disposal different devices to play content, either locally or via streaming on our "non-smart" TV. The Chinese set-top boxes managed by some version of Android are the best known. But if we are looking for quality and something, Shield TV is the solution.
Nvidia's Shield TVs are the best Android managed devices of this type currently available on the market, as it is also an excellent gaming platform. But like any electronic device it can fail, either by hardware or by software. Precisely this device is currently experiencing a malfunction when playing content in 4K.
Apparently, this problem that already has been recognized by the company, is shown when playing content that is stored in the application, regardless of the application that we use it. This problem is only shown when playing stored content since if we send content from our device the malfunction does not appear.
According to Nvidia, Netflix, YouTube and Prime Video are not affected by this malfunction. The company claims that it is working to solve this operating problem is already being investigated by the company and is working on a solution that they will launch as soon as possible and take the opportunity to apologize for the problems that they may cause to users.
We are aware of a 4K playback issue affecting a small number of applications on SHIELD TV devices and we are working on a solution… In most of these cases, users can cast these SHIELD movies in 4K using the Chromecast Incorporated. Major 4K providers, including Netflix, YouTube, and Prime Video, are not affected
