Latest Galaxy S7 and S7 edge Nougat beta renames TouchWiz to Samsung Experience

Samsung Experience

TouchWiz is one of the heaviest custom capes and that more resources consume in Samsung phones. We have already talked many times about the ideal that it would be for Samsung to detach a little from that custom layer to make it lighter and thus its terminals even perform much better than they do.

Right now the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge are in the beta program or Galaxy Beta Program for Nougat, so it is possible that you are enrolled in it to access Android 7.0. It is now when the Korean manufacturer is rolling out the third beta version of Nougat in which Samsung Pass, the Samsung Note app, the automatic brightness button is added to the quick panel and the "Close all" button is moved to the bottom in the recent apps panel. But the most interesting thing is that the info section lists the UI as Samsung Experience Version 8 instead of the TouchWiz name for its custom layer.

What this means is that Samsung is distancing itself from that TouchWiz to a Samsung Experience which may presuppose a transition to an Android with a more refined interface characterized by more white elements and those light blue accents. Ideally, that transition would also be to a lighter custom layer, something many of us want when we move around with top-of-the-line hardware that suffers from a TouchWiz that has been heavy over the years.

Apart from this "cosmetic" change, Samsung indicates that there are a few bugs that have yet to be fixed, including delay in switching between screens after pressing the power button and Wi-Fi connectivity issues. Samsung is investigating the problem and will roll out an update once it has found a solution. The update is 528MB and includes the December 1 security patch.
