Nokia X

Nokia-X - Dual-SIM

Although it was a secret, Nokia finally presented its new range Nokia X at the Mobile World Congress 2014, the first smartphone of the Finnish company that works with Android. Yes, finally the guys at Nokia wanted to try their luck with Google's operating system.

A range of mid-range phones that stand out for their more than adjusted price. If we take into account that the Nokia X costs 89 euros, we can see that the Nokia team intends to burst the market by offering a great terminal at a really attractive price.

Nokia-X - Dual-SIM-2

When I tested the Nokia X the first thing that caught my attention was its design, very similar to the acclaimed Lumia range. With a square structure the Nokia X has a quite nice touch. In addition, its weight, 127 grams, and its reduced measurements, 115,5 mm high, 63 mm long and 10,4 mm wide, make this device a comfortable and handy phone.

Available in a range of very vivid colors: white, black, green, yellow and red, Nokia X becomes a jovial phone and very attractive to look at. The power and volume buttons are located on the right side of the phone, making it very comfortable to use.

Technical characteristics of the Nokia X

Seeing the price we do not expect a high-end terminal, although the Nokia X is going to give a lot of war thanks to its panel IPS LCD four inch that allows us an almost full angle of view. Of course, the resolution does not reach 720, with 223 pixels per inch, although for its price it seems more than enough.

We find a very bright screen, a brand of the house, and although we are using the phone in an environment with a lot of natural light, you can use the device without problems. After opening the hood we find a processor Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 dual-core 1GHz, an Adreno 203 GPU along with 512MB of RAM. The internal memory is 4 GB although it can be expanded through microSD cards.

In my opinion lRAM falls a bit short, but if we take into account that this phone is aimed at users who want a solid, inexpensive terminal and to use instant messaging services, GPS, calls and little else, the terminal holds up without problems.

Su 3 megapixel camera no flash is the weakest point of the Nokia X. Although the quality of the captures in a bright environment are more than acceptable, forget about taking pictures in poorly lit areas. Let's not ask for pears from the elm ...

highlights the autonomy of the Nokia X. Although it has a 1.500mAh battery, the terminal supports the daily jog without problems. You can see that the Finns have worked a lot in this regard to optimize battery performance to the maximum so that the terminal does not leave us stranded at the worst moment.

We cannot forget another very interesting detail: the Nokia X has Dual SIM support, so we can use two different SIM cards.

Here we come to one of the hot spots of the Nokia X. Although it works with Android, the Finnish team incorporates a layer that simulates the Windows Phone interface, offering Microsoft services.
Any Android user will find it strange to use this interface, even if it has traces of the operating system of

Google, like the settings menu structure, or the share button. But it doesn't look like an Android. For example, the notification bar is a drop-down on the right of the main screen of the phone.
Services such as Skype stand out, where they give you a month to make international calls, or Microsoft OneDrive, the Redmond cloud that offers 10GB free to its customers.

One of the most attractive applications is Nokia Here, the maps app that works like a GPS navigator flawlessly. It is a pity that with such a small screen it cannot be used 100%.

Against we have the application store. Nokia X does not have a Play Store but a Nokia own store, with an ever-growing catalog, although it has a glaring flaw: WhatsApp is not yet available. Although it is true that you can download the apk and install it manually, if we take into account the market it is aimed at, it is not a good idea to complicate things for users.

Anyway the Nokia X can now be rooted so if you dive a little through our website you will find a splendid manual where you can turn this phone into a pure Android. In short, a mid-range terminal with two very important points: on the one hand we have a Nokia and its well-known quality and on the other we have a terminal at a really affordable price. For 89 euros, I think the Nokia X is a real bargain.
