Nokia CEO Stephen Elop explains why they chose Windows Phone

Stephen Elop

Since Nokia chose Microsoft and its Windows Phone as the operating system for its latest generation of smartphones, the controversy over the low figures and the reason for choosing Microsoft's operating system instead of Android has accompanied the Finnish firm.

For Stephen Elop, current CEO of Nokia, has decided to come to the fore to answer the million dollar question: Why did you choose Windows Phone, when Android was, and continues to be, in clear growth?

For this, Elop has taken advantage of a meeting with different media in which the boss of Nokia has answered this question:

I am very happy with the decision we made. A couple of years ago we were concerned with the high risk that a single manufacturer could dominate the Android market. We were suspicious of who it could be due to the available resources, the vertical integration, and we were aware that we were a little late in that decision. Many others had already entered that market.

Nokia

It is evident that it refers to Samsung when talking about the only dominant manufacturer. Okay, there you are right, although these words that sound like a cheap excuse to me have no merit. Why? Nothing, for two small details.

First Tidbit: Stephen Elop took over as CEO at Nokia on September 21, 2010. Guess what company he came from: Microsoft. Exactly he was the CEO of Microsoft's business division.

Second detail: Microsoft promised Nokia $ 1.000 billion annually for using their operating system on the phones of the Finnish company. I am sure that this ridiculous annual amount did not influence at all.

Elop no You treat us as fools and try to sell us the motorcycle. Windows Phone had hardly any allies and took advantage of the extreme decline of Nokia to get its operating system to end up in one of the leading brands, period.

I love the competition. Vaaale, I admit I have an irrational allergy to any product from Cupertino, everything related to the company with the bitten apple produces hives. But that there are other operating systems in the smartphone market is very good, competition is always good. But don't laugh at us.

What do you think? You believe the words of Elop?

Nothing to comment ... you've already said everything. Perhaps I will say that Nokia is its Microsoft Venture Join, an experiment ... that if it dies well ... and if it lives, that well!

Right, I am a fan of Android. Although I have suffered a Lumia 800 in my flesh ...

By the way, is there anything in my article that is a lie?

I dislike the vulgar, fussy and downright adolescent language that Alfonso de Frutos web constantly uses in his writings, which reduces the credibility of his opinions. Very unprofessional his language in a technological environment.

      Hello winicot,

I'm sorry that you dislike the register used in my articles. I use this language to get closer to the reader, making, in my opinion, reading more enjoyable and fun.
