Nexus One, impressions

El Nexus One It has been the object of desire for all self-respecting geeks since before its release. Almost all of its features and specifications were known prior to its release and it sparked heated discussions both against it and in its favor. Undoubtedly a gadget that did not go unnoticed by anyone.

Thanks to Vipmovil, where you can get it for €589 completely free and at the door of your house, I was able to have a few days Nexus One and "soborearlo" carefully although as it usually happens I would have liked to have it for a while longer. I think its technical specifications are known to everyone almost by heart and if you do not know the characteristics of the Nexus One you go through the previous link.

As is inevitable, this phone is being compared to the Iphone and has been dubbed the Iphone killer. I think it won't reach that much but it does Android it's coming a long way in a short time, and Apple must start taking it seriously.

El Nexus One It is a very good phone and it may be as a whole, software and hardware, today the best phone with the Android system. I say today because when you end up like him Motorola Milestones or the one not yet presented Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 have this version of the operating system we can compare it properly and we may get some surprises.

It is very fast executing the commands, and the applications open them immediately. But this should not surprise us much, the strange thing would be that it did not do it having 512 Mb of Ram and a 1ghz Snapdragon processor speed. The changes through the desks are very fluid and those delays that in terminals such as the G1 or even the Htc Magic do not occur. Surely the blame for this speed is both the wonderful Hardware that the Nexus One carries and the operating system itself, which is already becoming an increasingly refined system.

Its screen is great, very sharp and with a fantastic range of colors. It is of the Amoled type which undoubtedly influences this notoriously. Its resolution of 480 × 800 pixels, somewhat lower than the Motorola Milestone but this difference in resolution is not really noticeable. Its size is 3,7 inches and I personally think that this size is adequate for this type of terminal that has a GPS receiver, the possibility of using it as a game console or to watch some type of video.

Playing a video on the Nexus One it is a delight both for its screen quality and for its speed in execution and the same happens with web browsing. The opening of the pages is almost instantaneous and the navigation is great.

Despite the size of the screen and being a large but slim phone, it adapts well to use in the hand and is easy to carry or in the pockets of the pants or in the jacket. Its weight is not excessive although it is not a feather either, but being used to the HTC G1 its lower weight is noticeable.

As for connections, I have not had any problems and it connected quickly to the Wifi network and went to 3g without any problems. It practically had the same coverage with the Nexus One than with another terminal.

The use of the virtual keyboard is improved as expected, having a larger screen size increases the size of the keys so that its use is improved and it is practically impossible to go wrong.

The 5 mpx camera is acceptable for a terminal of this type. I have always thought that the camera on a phone is one more addition to the terminal but that what we really buy is a phone. This one in particular to take family photographs, send them by mms, upload them to social networks or things like that is more than enough. Perhaps the downside that I would put is that it has almost no type of software configuration, only image size and white balance. In this direction you can see a good comparison of the images taken by the Nexus One against those of the Motorola Milestones.

In short the Nexus One It is a phone with excellent technical characteristics and an operating system that in each revision improves stability and usability. If you are one of those who are looking for a last generation terminal, fast and you do not care if it does not have a physical keyboard this is your phone without hesitation. For those of you who like the physical keyboard more the Motorola Milestones it is not far behind and I am sure that when you receive the update Android 2.1 you will earn many integers.

And how long does the Nexus One battery last while doing all those tests? I think it is the only detail that I have not seen in any rewiew.

    thank you!

Well, the truth is that I did not get to test it very carefully. I charged it on Saturday morning and then Sunday afternoon when I went to return it. But he did not always have Wi-Fi connected or GPS, 3G yes.

I already have mine for two days !!! For € 485, € 100 less than what VipMovil sells. If you have any interest, get into dontretail.com, which is a kid who sends it from the United States. It's amazing but I still miss my hero's sense

I personally don't care where you buy it, but if something happens, who gives you the guarantee? The kid from the USA?

  3.   bboy_javi said

I already talked about it with him and he told me that if whatever it was something happened to send it to him and he could take it. Or I send it directly to Google in the US since apparently only the phone's imei number is necessary to see if it has the guarantee or not and Google responds 😉

And how about gps navigation? You have been able to test the long-awaited "google-gps". I have a htc hero and I'm dying to update to 2.1

I assume you mean Google Maps Navigation, which is only available for the USA. It does not depend on the phone.

Now for the moment there is no gps navigation because it is only available in the US…. I guess maybe we will have to wait for it to come out in Spain

I have had it for 3 days and I am quite satisfied. It is quite fast without a doubt. Using maps or viewing the image gallery synchronized with your photos uploaded in the picasa albums is an excellent experience. Regarding the battery, if you use the browser a lot (I recommend the Dolphin), check your emails often, keep the Wi-Fi connection on for a long time and play one or another game, yes or yes, at the end of the day you have to leave it charging . I do not think that with normal use, it lasts more than 2 days. Taking into account the size of the screen and multitasking is normal in these mobiles (in the option of using the battery, it marks me that the screen is the one that consumes it the most). I am also used to daily charging since before I had an N85 that lasted for 3 days with normal use.
