Samsung has just released a new security update for the Galaxy S9 range, a security update that includes the security patch corresponding to the month of December. This new security update for this terminal, which hit the market in 2018, has begun to reach all the countries where the company has put both terminals up for sale.
The firmware number for the Galaxy S9 is G960FXXSCFTK2 while for the S9 + model it is G965FXXSCFTK2. The update does not include any novelty in terms of functionalities since this terminal is not among those chosen to receive new versions of Android although it would be perfectly capable of moving them without problems.
Like the rest of the updates that this terminal has received since its launch, this is available via OTA. If you want to check if it is already available in your country, you just have to access the configuration options of the terminal and click on the Software update option.
If it is already available, you just have to click on the button Download and install and leave the terminal charging, if you do not want the battery to drain quickly, so it is advisable to carry out this process when you put the terminal to charge overnight.
If it is not yet available in your country, you can go to the SamMobile guys' website to download it, although to install it, you will need a PC managed by Windows.
While it is true that it is a security update, we should install it asap, but we must bear in mind that if it were a major security update, it would already be available worldwide, without release deadlines or anything like that.
If you still have a Galaxy S9 or S9 +, and you are thinking of renewing it by not updating to the new versions of Android, you should think twice, since, at least, if will receive security updates until 2022. When it reaches 4 years in the market, it may be a good time to think about renewing it since it will no longer receive support from the company.
