New Google Play Web

The news of the day and of many more is undoubtedly the redesign full of the web Google Play. And the truth is that it is a new version that already took. The application was updated a few months ago, and since then both versions have been different, something that, at least, does not give a good image and confuses the user.

The new interface is presented in an excellent way, including certain changes that may not be welcomed by all users.

After the new version of Maps, it seems that Google is doing disappear certain characteristics that are not used by many people. In the present case of Google Play it seems that there are quite a lot of disappearances.

Let's see what are the changes and new additions as well as the new design equal to the existing one in the Google Play Android application, with the acclaimed and standardized use of the visual aesthetics based on the cards that was found for the first time on Google Now.

A visual style on par with the Android application

The new design is surprising and is the same as the Android version. There are cards everywhere and the design is clearer in every sense. There are a few tabs to find everything you search on Google Play and the lists are less scattered than they were before. Most things will be right where they are needed.

Top sales and Top free in the new Web version

Another thing that stands out a lot is the loading speed of the web when any facet presented in it is opened or used. The use of AJAX (asynchronism of JavaScript and XML) is the culprit for this speed on the new Google Play website. Every time something is clicked, it will only load what is to be changed, not the entire page. Hence its excellent performance.

The My Apps list is mostly unnecessary

In the previous version, there was a page for My Applications depending on the ones we had in our different terminals. You could see that it needed updating and there was the possibility to uninstall them remotely. All these functions have disappeared, and surely some user will not like these changes at all.

The My Applications page is now a list of all your applications and there is no option for Being able to see what has been installed on each device, as there is no option to update / uninstall.

Wish List Hit the Web

No longer is restricted its use merely to the terminals. The list can be viewed and edited through the web version of Google Play. All existing applications now have their own specific button to mark it as a desired application.

The simple wish list

The link is in the side panel, but only on the main page from Google Play. The list in the panel links you directly to each application, so nothing can be edited from it.

Application listings are better arranged, but certain details removed

The visual aesthetics found in the app listings is perfect. The icon is larger, and appears in the middle right next to the install buttons and wish list. What is missing is the big feature image on top of the old UI, without really knowing why.

Also permissions tab It has been eliminated, being the only way to be able to see them when the button to install the application is pressed.

The list of similar applications and those of the same developer have become lists. A nice change to discover and show more information in view of the user.

The screenshots are totally different

The images are larger and contain a scrollable list. If you click on one or start scrolling, the image preview expands, filling the entire space of the browser. If you enlarge the browser window, the size will change in unison.

The visual aspect has improved a lot

The found format of the captures is WEbP assuming it loads faster, removing the old PNG. Another reason that the loading of the Google Play web is fast.

Reviews filters have disappeared

The previous version had quite a few options for sorting and filtering user reviews, but they seem have been eliminated. You cannot only choose reviews for a certain device, scores, the latest version or any other type of criteria. An important option to see if the application worked on our device, or what were the most recent comments to see if the last update had given any kind of problems.

Now the reviews will go popping up randomly in reverse chronological order.

Search is limited

When searching from the top bar, the results appear on a page with flashcards. When you slide down and you come to result number 48, it stops in the middle of a line, there is no button to go to the next page or an infinite scroll as happened before.

As in the reviews, all the filter options have been eliminated, such as by popularity or relevance, when you could search between paid or free applications. Something very limited yes note that now only 48 apps will appear.

With all these changes, Google Play becomes an exquisite experience with its new visual interface so well chosen, but in functions is no longer what same as it was before. The same has happened to Maps, aesthetically it is incredible but the potential has diminished Quite.

And okay, it is very good to have a very nice application or web, but something else is needed of functionality and features, so that Google Play has the potential it always maintained. As has happened with the reintegration of the button for offline maps in Maps, complaints have been the reason for its return, and the community is already presenting theirs with Google Play.
