From Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820 chip almost everything is expected this year after the 'fraud' of the first revision of the 810 that allowed HTC to almost stop disappearing or, at least, hide its head underground like an ostrich due to the high temperatures of the One M9 in which, almost You could literally fry an egg from the heat of the terminal. For this reason, Qualcomm has put enough effort and affection to push itself with a new chip that shows that they are still the best in creating chips for mobile devices. At the moment it seems that it is complying due to the different information that the new flagships of various companies bring in which it will be integrated into the new Qualcomm SoC to offer all the potential that is expected and greater energy efficiency.
We already knew at the beginning of the year that even Samsung has joined in the process of making the best chips possible by offering part of its technology in this processor that we will see included in several very important terminals. We cannot say anything bad about Samsung, since it is the culprit of creating the Exynos 7420 that has given very good results in its own terminals such as the Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 edge, Galaxy S6 edge+ and Galaxy Note 5. So we have two of the big brands in chip manufacturing united to reproduce a SoC that is capable of shaking up the world of technology and even more so that of mobile devices in this year 2016. If we have had the opportunity to access the AnTuTu benchmarking and Geekbench, now is the time for GFXBench.
GFXBench confirms it
New tests have emerged from the GFXBench website that show the potential in the chip's graphics performance and from what can be seen they are really spectacular. We already knew that this new Qualcomm chip would give a qualitative leap in terms of graphic potential, which is why it has rarely commented that this year we will have the perfect hardware to be able to have better video games that promote gaming from an Android device. If we add to this the arrival of a Nintendo that could get all the "chicha" out of that hardware, we will surely be surprised by a great 2017 for the world of video games from mobile devices.
The device on which the Snapdragon 820 has been tested easily surpasses the Note 5 score on the same website, and competes with the iPhone 6s Plus. From the screenshots collected from these lines it can be found that the Qualcomm SoC has been installed in a smartphone with 6,2 inches with 1600 x 2560 resolution, 4 GB of RAM memory, a 20 MP rear camera, 12 MP on the front and Android 6.0 as the software version.
The differences
It should be mentioned that the iPhone 6s Plus has 1080 x 1920 resolution while in the test device it goes to QuadHD resolution, making it easier to take a performance improvement from the Apple phone due to fewer pixels. What we do not know which terminal we are talking about, although everything seems to be a test platform for the processor and not a unit already created as if it were a phone to be sold commercially.
Among the terminals that will soon see the Snapdragon 820 chip are Samsung's own in some version, since the S7 will also include the Exynos as a processor. The Le Max Pro as one of the first and then the rest among which we have the LG G5 or even the Mi 5 from Xiaomi.
A processor that will take on the own Kirin 950 and Helix X20 to compete for the best CPU in a year in which Qualcomm is very firm and it seems that it is going to be the winner when it comes to this type of hardware elements. In any case, we have to wait a bit until we have these terminals to check in situ the capacity of the chips with different analyzes and benchmarking tests.
