WhatsApp has been working on this option for a long time, all after the option appeared uniquely for groups. Users who have been able to test the WhatsApp beta have seen how the option to mute groups now lets us do it forever and not for a year.
The first beneficiaries were the groups, but now it can also be done to a single user if you see that notifications are annoying at work. If you need to do it for any reason, it is best to do it for several hours, for a week or for as long as you deem appropriate.
How to mute contacts in WhatsApp Beta
It only works at the moment in the beta version of WhatsApp (versions 2.20.201.9 and 2.20.201.10), therefore you can download it if you want from this moment to have it installed on your device. Once installed, you will see the option to silence «Always» in addition to «8 hours» and «1 week».
To get to this option download the beta that we leave you here below, once downloaded you have to follow the following steps until you reach this parameter:
- Open the WhatsApp application and go to the conversation that you find annoying from a contact
- Once inside, click on the three vertical points click on "Silence notifications"
- Now choose the option that best suits you, if it is "Always" WhatsApp will not notify you with sounds, so you will see it if you turn on the terminal and open the conversation to talk to your contacts
WhatsApp Beta is currently testing this and will be coming soon to all users who are using the stable version, although other things must first mature before launching it. The WhatsApp team is also working on freeing up space, as well as silence forever is now available in the Beta version.
