LG is set to launch its next-generation flagship smartphone, expected to be the LG G8 ThinQ, and while the leaked renders suggest that the device will come with the regular wide notch at the top of the screen, the company is slowing down to adopt the popular notch design with water droplets. Therefore, this device could come with the minimalist notch, as is also speculated.
According to the latest patent filed by LG, The South Korean-based company is poised to move toward the notch of waterdrop, which will provide a higher screen-to-body ratio. However, such a design was first unveiled by the company in April of last year.
The patent application describes a smartphone with a vertical dual camera setup on the back and a rear-facing fingerprint scanner.
When looking at the sketches, the phone retains the 3.5mm headphone jack on the bottom, which most smartphone makers are ditching, and it carries a SIM tray on top. The power button key is located on the right side, while the volume control keys are present on the left side.
Meanwhile, the company is preparing to launch the smartphone LG G8 ThinQ and the rumored LG V50 ThinQ 5G next month at Mobile World Congress 2019 in Barcelona, Spain. Along with that, we expect the company to launch other mid-range devices at the event.
