LG G6 confirmed to use Snapdragon 821 chip

LG G6

The most logical would be to use the latest high-end chip from a manufacturer like Qualcomm to integrate it into a new flagship of the most valued by the Android community so that users could decide between several terminals. But this year Samsung has played a bad trick and has left LG aside so that it has to relegate in a previous range of that chipmaker for its G6.

It has now been confirmed that LG will incorporate the Snapdragon 821 chip into the imminent flagship LG G6, the latest Qualcomm processor from last year, so that it can be its presentation scheduled for the Mobile World Congress 2017; an MWC that is marred by the disappearance of the most important high-end Huawei, Samsung and Xiaomi. There is a culprit and we all know who he is.

A leak from a confidential LG presentation made during CES has made the news and clearly indicates that the LG G6 has the Qualcomm MSM8996AC chip, mostly known as the Snapdragon 821. An LG spokesperson has even confirmed that the imminent LG flagship will be carrying this Snapdragon 821 chip. It is a chip that came to improve the 820 in energy efficiency and potential, but it is not found like the top high-end of this year 2017 where the Snapdragon 835 seems to reign.

The reason for the delay is due to the agreement between Samsung and Qualcomm to produce the Snapdragon 835 which has required the process of 10 nanometer FinFET manufacturing, so the Korean giant would have the exclusivity for the first round of chips of this high range, and specifically for the Samsung Galaxy S8.

So we meet before a new tessitura for this year which has also harmed the Mobile World Congress, since by delaying the incorporation of that chip in the high-end of the rest of the manufacturers, they have had to postpone the launch and presentation of their own, so the MWC is left without the actors most important of the Android scene.

A damaged LG and MWC

An event of that entity in which neither Samsung nor Huawei are with their high-end, or that even Xiaomi has decided not to appear, is all bad news for a Mobile World Congress in which everyone has gathered during these past years.

If LG had wanted to launch the LG G6 with the Snapdragon 835 chip, surely that I would have had to wait for the month of May or June of this year, with the Galaxy S8 with two months of exclusivity before the LG G6. One would only have to imagine that brand new S8 acclaiming all the attention to leave the minutiae later to the LG flagship.

LG has had to hold back and apply the handbrake to introduce the Snapdragon 821, which is still a great chip and that, although it does not provide the best scores in the benchmarking, it will offer all the potential to have a high-end range, apart from having Google Assistant as a non-Google smartphone that will incorporate it.

This movement has led to LG take center stage at MWC and from which he will benefit without any doubt by not having any relevant rival for those days. So the first steps in launching the G6 will be smoother and it will take two months until the brand new Galaxy S8 arrives.

In the filtered image you can find the LG G6 design language, to what they would have called like panel “Full Vision”. This means that the front area of the G6 will use 2880 x 1440 resolution, will have a Snapdragon 821 chip, a fingerprint sensor located on the rear and Quad DAC audio.

We will see if it is finally LG reverse it has had its effect on sales.
