LG is jumping ship and won't launch a new smartphone every year

LG Q6 Plus and Q6 Alpha

Every year, the main smartphone manufacturers insist that we renew our terminals for the new model they present. Many are the users who finally take the hook and go back to spending a fortune on the latest model to, sometimes, just enjoy the few advantages that it offers us with its predecessor.

Having become an unwritten rule, and one that is often motivated to try to counter the competition, some manufacturers are only losing money. The clearest example is found with LG, a company whose telephony division has been showing losses for the last two years. These continual losses they have forced the company to abandon ship and will not launch new phones every year for the time being.

It has been the CEO of LG himself, who has made these statements, within the framework of the CES that is being held these days in Las Vegas, and where the Korean company has presented a large number of televisions, one of its divisions that generates the most income inside the company. Jo Seong-Jin has claimed that they will only launch new devices on the market when necessary and not because their rivals do.

We will introduce new smartphones when necessary. But we are not going to launch it just because other rivals do. We plan to keep existing models longer, for example by unveiling more G-series or V-series variants.

In this way, LG wants to extend the useful life of its terminals, keeping them in the market for longer as well as launching minor updates, in order to continue being an option for users. This may not be the best solution the company has found, but if you have really grown tired of the market being unresponsive in sales, It is the most logical decision.

It's the best thing that can happen. Hopefully it begins to affect all the usurious companies that every few months sell the same product with hardly any modifications at inappropriate prices ...
