As we are repeating in the last articles we are publishing, this week the first important fair of the year in terms of technology is held. The CES of Las Vegas 2016 is just around the corner and that shows as news begins to appear related to the various manufacturers that will be available during the days that the fair is held.
We have seen how Alcatel will launch new Android devices or how Huawei could surprise by presenting its flagship terminal in the United States. Now we discover that the Chinese manufacturer Lenovo has presented, hours before the start of the fair, a laptop with Chrome OS as the operating system, the think pad 13.
Chrome OS is a different OS than the ones we currently know. His idea of having everything in the cloud with Google services is very good, but nevertheless he still has a way to go so that he can compete with other OS that have been in computers for years. However, in the United States, Chrome OS works very well, especially in the education sector, where many schools are equipped with this type of product.
Thinkpad 13 Chromebook
Chromebooks are not powerful computers, although there are always exceptions such as the Chromebook Pixel manufactured by Google. So it is normal to find simple hardware to cut costs, but with a performance that many other laptops or desktop computers would like to have.
Lenovo's Chromebook will come in multiple options, with one processor Intel Celerona i3 or i5. These may be accompanied by up to 8 GB RAM memory y 32 GB internal storage. What will not change will be the screen that will be 13 inches with 1080p resolution. Among other important features, we find that the laptop will incorporate a USB port and two Type-C ports, along with a battery that, according to the manufacturer, promises more than 10 hours of life.
As a curiosity to comment that, there is an improved version of this Thinkpad 13 that Lenovo has presented, but this version comes with Windows as the Operating System and there are some different specifications with respect to the version with ChromeOS, such as its internal storage, 512 GB or its 16 GB RAM memory.
The new Thinkpad 13 becomes one of the few laptops that are available in Chrome OS and Windows versions. Lenovo plans to launch its new notebook to starting summer at a price of U.S. dollar 399Although it remains to be seen if this Chromebook ships outside of the United States.
