Huawei's Kirin is preparing to launch its first mid-performance 5G mobile platform. It is known that the chipset that will arrive as such is the Kirin 820 5G and it will have top performance, which, according to Geekbench, will surpass that offered by the already known Kirin 980, a high-end processor that we see in terminals such as the Mate 20 and Honor Magic 2.

Geekbench has conducted several performance tests of this upcoming new chipset in which it compares it to the aforementioned Kirin 980 and Snapdragon 855, Qualcomm's flagship chipset of 2019.

The Kirin 820 5G outperforms the Kirin 980 and pretty much equals the Snapdragon 855 in power

So is. According to evaluations Geekbench recently conducted, Huawei's first processor with support for 5G networks is more powerful than the Kirin 980, as we already said, and it is on par with the Snapdragon 855.

The benchmark published a comparison table on Weibo in which it captures what was said. Here you can see the skills shown in the single-core and multiple-core sections. In question, the Kirin 980 showed itself to be an inferior chipset in both departments, relative to the Kirin 820 5G. The latter also outperformed the SD855 in single-core tests, but matched in multi-core tests.

The Kirin 820 5G is known to be a 7nm processor with Cortex-A76 cores and a Mali-G77 GPU. These cores are said to be paired with a group of four Cortex-A55 cores for efficiency and will arrive with updated and more efficient NPU and ISP modules.

Apparently the first medium-performance smartphone to hit the market with this new 5G mobile platform is the Honor 30S. There is no information about it, but this has been affirmed by different tipster media, so it seems to be very likely.
