Huawei wants to offer Google applications in the App Gallery

The American government's ban on trading with Chinese companies has meant a hard hit for Huawei, since it has been forced to offer its new terminals with Huawei mobile services (HMS) instead of Google's (GMS).

In Spanish, this means that all the new mobiles that the company has launched since the ban began, do not have access to the Play Store, and therefore, none of the Google applications. Huawei's latest plan is to request that the search giant offer its applications in the App Gallery.

The App Gallery is Huawei's alternative to the Play Store, a store that is available natively on Huawei and Honor smartphones. Although the application ecosystem is growing little by little, still not the ideal substitute for those who trust Google apps. The solution that Huawei has found is to request Google to offer its applications in the App Gallery as it currently does in the Apple App Store.

According to the President of Huawei, Eric Xu in statements to CNBC:

We hope that Google services can be made available through our AppGallery, just as Google services are available through the Apple App Store.

Unlike the applications it offers for iOS, Google would not have to create a new set of applications but it would have to adapt them to the libraries used in the Huawei mobile operating system, since they are not the same as those offered by GMS.

What we don't know is if Google would be willing to launch its applications in another Android store, especially now that the big Chinese manufacturers want to create their own joint application store, taking away part of the slice of the cake that Google currently has, so this idea is likely to have a happy ending.

What we don't know is to what extent it would be legally possible for Google offer your applications in the Huawei ecosystem without violating the current trade ban with Huawei. If Huawei's plans were finally fulfilled, the new P40 range that the Asian company presented a few days ago, would be much more desirable in the West.

Today, Google services can be installed on all smartphones that Huawei It is launching to the market, but it is not a process that most users without knowledge are willing to carry out. Consumers want to turn on the phone, insert the SIM and install the applications they usually use, applications that are unfortunately not available in the Huawei App Gallery.
