The Huawei Mate 40 will be the last model to use a Kirin processor

Huawei Mate 40 Pro

In recent years, the processors of the Asian company Huawei have positioned themselves with a important alternative to the almighty Qualcomm and Samsung's Exynos. However, everything fell apart when in May 2019, Trump prohibited all American companies from doing business with the Asian company.

Google was the first company affected in this sense, since its Android operating system could not be present in the next Huawei launches, forcing it to launch, quickly and running, its own version of Android, a version of Android that It also has at its disposal its own store called App Gallery.

However, the problem has not stopped here and unfortunately for Huawei it has spread to affect its processors. A few weeks ago, we discussed the possibility that TSMC, the largest processor manufacturer in the world, was forced, following the guidelines of the American government, to stop working with Huawei. Recall that TSMC manufactures the Kirin processors of the Asian company, in addition to those of Apple and Qualcomm.

Finally, this rumor has been confirmed by Huawei through the head of Huawei's consumer division, Yi Chengdong, who stated that the Huawei Mate 40It will be the last model of this manufacturer to implement a processor from the Kirin range designed by HiSilicon, a division of Huawei.

HiSilicon has designed Huawei's Kirin processors in recent years, but has not been in charge of manufacturing. Now that TSMC has been forced to stop working with Huawei, it does not have any other manufacturer of with the same experience as TSMC to manufacture its processors.

A solution for Huawei would go through Samsung manufacturing them; however, this option is not possible either. What solution does Huawei have? The only solution is to use MediaTek and Speadrum processors, the problem is that the technology of these processors is much older than we can find in the Kirin, Qualcomm and Exynos, so the benefits, power and consumption of their terminals do not It will be, not even remotely, the same as in the terminals of the last two years.
