Huawei deviated from the norm when it launched the P20 Pro with three rear camera sensors early last year. The camera setup of this device held firm in DXOMark's benchmark as the best phone camera setup, with the Galaxy Note 9, the iPhone X and others who couldn't bring it down.
The feat was repeated on the Mate 20 Pro, which also features three camera sensors on the back. Now, it seems the company is all about taking things up a notch: We're talking about five rear cameras on the upcoming Mate 30 Pro. The hint about this comes in the form of a patent application from Huawei for a smartphone case filed with the National Intellectual Property Administration of China.
The leaked smartphone case suggests that the Huawei Mate 30 Pro will have a penta-camera setup. The case has a larger cutout in the upper half, which is noticeably larger than the one on the Mate 20 Pro. Remember that this latest terminal includes three rear cameras and an LED flash. The larger cutout of the smartphone case only suggests that the Huawei Mate 30 Pro will have 5 sensors on the back with an LED flash. However, we are not sure if the patented case is for this mobile, but it is definitely for one of Huawei's flagships this year. If this turns out to be true, the Mate 30 Pro will join the Nokia 9, which is also expected to feature a penta-camera setup.
Other details of the next device that could be gleaned from the smartphone case patent include the absence of a fingerprint sensor on the back. This suggests that the device likely includes an under-display fingerprint sensor.
The mobile also has the power button and the volume rocker located on the right side. At the bottom of it is the USB Type-C port, as well as the grills for the background speaker.
