Increasingly, we are seeing that smartphone manufacturers implement OLED screens in their terminals. The trend is gaining strength over time, as they represent more vivid colors and more defined blacks than LCD panels. Also, they are compatible with fingerprint sensors built into themselves.
However, they are not spared from flickering. And what are they? Well, the answer is simple: when the screen's working frequency is reduced, either through the brightness level of the screen, imperceptible light fluctuations appear that cause discomfort to the user. To solve this problem in one of its most powerful flagships, Huawei, through a new update, has added DC Dimming function to Mate 20 Pro, a terminal that came with ... an OLED panel, of course.
DC Dimming is what we also know as DC screen dimming. Through this feature, the Chinese company seeks to reduce the headaches and dizziness caused by the flickering of the OLED panel of the Huawei Mate 20 Pro. However, you should not think that only the screen of this device causes them; the same happens with all OLED technology (and AMOLED, of course) of other terminals.
The update that is coming to the Mate 20 Pro with this feature offers the EMUI firmware version 9.1.0.135 and is currently available only for China. When it starts rolling out globally, you can enable it on your Mate 20 Pro by going to Configuration> Screen> Eye comfort> Enable flicker reduction.
Remember to have the device with a good battery level and connected to a stable and high-speed Wi-Fi network before starting the download and installation process of the renewed software, in order to avoid any failure during this and the consumption of the package junk data.
