Google's new mobile operating system, called Android 8.0 "O", is very close to its launch, and it seems that its arrival could enable support for Bluetooth 5.0 on certain devices.

Android users will benefit from a vast amount of new features when they update their devices to the new Android 8.0, and now the HTC company has informed all users that its flagship U11 will be one of the few smartphones in the world to receive support for Bluetooth 5.0.

"The mobile hardware was already compatible with Bluetooth 5.0 connections, with no need for any additional firmware update from HTC," the company stated in a recent blog post.

"When Android O arrives, all HTC U11 owners around the world will be able to enjoy the benefits of Bluetooth 5.0."

The update to Android 8.0 “O” for the HTC U11 still has an unknown date

Only a few Android terminals are currently capable of supporting the latest Bluetooth 5.0 technologies, among which are the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 +, as well as the new OnePlus 5, Sony Xperia XZ Premium and the Xiaomi Mi 6. Now, the HTC U11 will soon join this small group.

HTC believes that Bluetooth 5.0 support will enhance users' mobile experience, particularly those with a U11 device, which appears to be the first HTC smartphone to receive the Android 8.0 update after being released later this month.

For now it is believed that Android 8.0 will initially arrive on Google Pixel and Nexus devices on August 21But HTC didn't say in its announcement when HTC U11 users will get the new update, though it probably shouldn't take too long. For now, the HTC U11 runs Android 7.1 Nougat.
