Google Meet is a video calling service that is having great growth in the last three months. Google decided to offer it for free seeing the high demand from users, who even today are making use of video calling apps, one of which has managed to take over a large part of the market is Zoom.
Meet is integrated into the web version of Gmail, but if you have an Android device you can download the application right now in the Play Store. Google Meet works in any browser, so it is compatible with any available browser, also in Opera, Mozilla Firefox or Safari, among others.
How to log into Google Meet from Gmail on your computer
The first step is to open the browser on your computer and open your Gmail mail, look for the option «Meet» on the left side. Once you have accessed, click Start a meeting, if it is the first time you use it, it will ask for permissions to use the microphone and the camera.
Those in the session will see "Meeting Prepared" which has a meeting URL, a dial number and the PIN, all of which can be shared with all participants. Select "Join Now" if you want to start the meeting or "Present" if you want to share the screen with all attendees. The maximum number of participants is 100 people.
Join a meeting from Gmail
Open the browser and go to Gmail, look for the option «Meet» within Gmail on the left side and click "Join a meeting". Now you must enter the code that the creator of the meeting has to provide you, this is a string of letters with hyphens. You have to grant permissions to microphone and camera if you have not done it before and you can already use the service.
How to log into Google Meet from Gmail on your Android phone
Download and install the Google Meet app (We leave you the link of the application right at the end of this tutorial). Once you install it, open the application on your Android phone's desktop to start using it. As soon as you start it, it will ask for your permission to take photos and record videos, click "Allow", then click Allow several times until the end.
After the permissions, it will ask you to choose an email account, in this case if you only have one choose the main one and after this it will be the one used by the application. One time Once you are logged in, you have the options of a «New meeting» or "Meeting code", in this case you can make one or enter one created with the second option.
If you decide to create a Meeting you can invite those people you want with the option «Share» to send the link from the menu. Another option is to schedule video calls from Google Calendar, the schedule will depend on what time the participants want, so it is better to ask them before creating it.
