How to restrict data and Wi-Fi to applications on a Xiaomi or Redmi

Dark mode on Xiaomi and Redmi phones

There are times when we do not want to receive WhatsApp or Telegram messages, for example. It may simply be because we want to focus more on something and avoid distractions, which would be difficult for us if we see a notification from the two mentioned apps -or any other-. The solution to this would be to turn off the mobile data of the phone and / or deactivate the Wi-Fi, but this is not something practical since it makes us totally disconnected.

Fortunately, layers like Xiaomi MIUI have a native option, adjustable from Configuration, which allows restricting the data of the selected applications on a Xiaomi or Redmi, thus allowing you to use the data or Wi-Fi in the other apps that we have not restricted.

Restrict app data on a Xiaomi or Redmi as follows

It's very simple. You just have to access ConfigurationEither from the logo that is located on one of the home screens and / or from the notification bar, through the logo that is identified as a gear.

Once there, you can access Manage applications in a direct way, just by writing as is Manage applications in the search bar. The manual way would be to search for the box Applications, which is located in box number 18 (in the case of MIUI 11); from there we can access the aforementioned section of interest.

The rest is easy peasy. You only have to select one or all of the apps to which you want to restrict access to mobile data and / or Wi-Fi. Then we will enter another window, in which the option appears Restrict the use of data. Usually the options Wi-Fi y Mobile data will be activated; If we deactivate one or both, the application will no longer be able to connect to the network of the unchecked option. In this way, for example, you can continue watching videos on YouTube and not get any messages or notifications from any instant messaging app or other application.
