Shazam became years ago the best app for recognize songs via smartphone. Although it is not the only one, it has always been the one that has offered us the best results, which allowed it to attract the interest of Apple who, after integrating it into Siri, decided to buy it in 2018.
It took almost a year for the European Union to authorize this purchase, since it could affect free competition. Since now, Shazam has continued to function as it has been up to now, offering compatibility with all streaming music services, the latest being Google's: YouTube Music.
Before being acquired by Apple, Shazam partnered with Spotify to allow users to enjoy music recognized by the application directly on Spotify. Since the beginning of the year, we can also enjoy the music that the application recognizes directly from Apple Music (as expected).
However, so that no one can accuse him of a monopoly, from Apple they have also added the option to listen to the songs that the application recognizes from YouTube Music, Google's music streaming service.
At the moment, it only allows us to listen to the music that the application recognizes directly through YouTube Music, not the one we have previously recognized and we have it stored in our library.
How this integration works
- To listen to the song we have identified on YouTube Music, we must click on the three points located vertically in the application where the details of the song are displayed and select YouTube Music.
- YouTube Music will then open with the songs identified with the same name.
- We just have to select the one that really corresponds to the one we have heard and not to one of the different versions that circulate on YouTube, (as has happened to me while testing this new functionality.
